Executive Committee Meeting
Reading of the minutes of the December 19, 2017 meeting was waived.
A summary Treasurer's report (approximate) was given by George Laverick .
Jim Shaver reported that Chuck Novak has headed up an effort to install infrastructure for future range improvements. Water lines have been run to the rifle range as well as conduit for electrical power and communications wiring.
An analysis of range usage has shown an increase of nearly 50 percent over the past year.
Cleaning kits have been purchased for the club's .22 rifles.
Infrastructure: While working on the water/electrical supply for the rifle range, Chuck Novak cleared about 2/3 of an acre just past the right pistol range. The idea (for future development) is that two short pistol bays could be built there to be used for steel target shooting. This would open up the right pistol bay by moving the existing plate rack and steel targets.
Indoor Range: Several members had recently approached Jim Samsel about the possibility of the club becoming involved in re-opening "The Gun Rack" indoor range. A delegation of officers (Jim Samsel, George Laverick, and Jim Shaver) met with the owners, toured the facility and discussed the costs involved in purchasing and operating the facility. After running the numbers and discussing the matter, it was decided that operating the indoor range is simply not within the club's capabilities at this time.
FONRA Banquet: The FONRA (Friends Of the NRA) banquet will be held on March 16, 2018 at the USCA Convocation Center. Tickets are available on the web at FONRA website or contact Kevin Lilly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:32.
Following the meeting, a discussion session was held for members to bring up any wishes, concerns, etc.
The next Executive Committee meeting will be held at 7:00PM on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at the ADPS Indoor Range, 240 Dupont Drive, Aiken, SC. All members are encouraged to attend.
George Laverick, Secretary
