July 26, 2016 Executive Committee Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President, Jim Samsel. Officers present were Jim Samsel, George Laverick, Kevin Lilly, and Shaver. Two members were present in addition to the officers.

The minutes of the June 28,2016 Executive Committee meeting were read by George Laverick and were accepted as read.

Treasurer's Report

The Treasurer was not present.

Armorer's Report

Kevin Lilly reported no changes to the status of the Club's firearms.

Range Report

Jim Shaver reported that some members are not properly cleaning up their spent brass. Projects which had been identified by the Range Committee are on hold pending completion of the rifle range improvement and fence. The complete range report is available on the club website.

Old Business

200 Yard range/fence: A quote from Boyd Fence is expected in the next day or so. Jim Shaver needs to contact Ram Clearing to obtain a quote from them for the fence.

A discussion was held about specifications for the rifle range to define drainage needs (18 or 24 inch pipe) and berm heights. Jim Shaver will discuss drainage with Ram. The intermediate berms and pistol range berms will be quoted separately from the rifle range extension.

The 100 meter berm will be relocated so that it is parallel with the new firing line. It will be 8 feet high and flat at that elevation to the 200 meter berm which will be 6 feet high as will the intermediate berms. The firing line will be moved, but will be elevated. Once the range is re-configured, no targets will be allowed in any position except immediately in front of a berm (including intermediate berms).

Chuck Novak provided a backhoe for the work on the rifle range. The club will offer to compensate him for its use.

Silence Requests: The latest request did have dates, but we are not receiving advance notice so the we can notify the members in advance. We have asked for an email one week in advance.

New Business

Indoor Range: The City has decided they will no longer allow us to use the indoor range. This is no reflection on the Club. ADPS favored our continued use, but the City Council overruled them. We are uncertain at this time whether we will be allowed to continue to use the meeting room (the August meeting will still be at the indoor range).

Website: George Laverick reported that he will be truncating the gate data on the website. There are currently almost 10,000 entry/exit records. Old records will be archived. The website will reflect activity from July 1, 2016.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:44PM.

The next Executive Committee meeting will be at 6:30PM on August 23, 2016 at the ADPS Indoor Range, 240 Dupont Drive, Aiken, SC.

Respectfully submitted,

George Laverick
