July 26, 2015 Executive Committee Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President, Jim Samsel. Officers present were Jim Samsel, Joe Podesta, David Nichols, and George Laverick. One member was present in addition to the officers.

The minutes of the June 28, 2015 Executive Committee meeting were read by George Laverick and were accepted as read.

Treasurer's Report

The Treasurer was not present so no report was given.

Range Report

The range appears to be fairly clean, but George Laverick reported that he had to empty all of the trash cans and pick up some discarded target backers on Sat. 7/25.

Armorer's Report

The armorer was not present. It is unknown whether or not the repaired op-rod has been received.

Old Business

Plate Rack: No new information to report.

Range Officers: Daniel Wood has not gotten in touch with George Laverick to schedule training for the remaining RSO volunteers. George will try to contact him.

Fence: The officers have reviewed the proposed Statement of Work for clearing which was prepared by Joe Podesta. Some minor wording changes were incorporated. Paragraph 2.4 was moved to the top to immediately state the goal of the project. Considerable discussion was held to define how the cost of the job should be bid. It was finally decided that contractors should bid an hourly rate with an estimated number of hours to complete. An additional 8 hours above the estimate will be allowed with prior notification and approval by a representative of the Executive Committee. Any further increase in time would require re-negotiation. The Committee also decided to delete Paragraph 2.7 (widening of road) on the grounds that this should be handled separately.

Sign-in Logs/Waivers: Jim Samsel brought in a wall-mount type mailbox that would hold soft binders. A mailbox will be mounted at each firing line. Members and guests will be required to sign in each time the visit the range (signing in at either pistol ranges will cover both pistol ranges, but a separate sign-in will be required for the rifle range). Guests will also have to sign a Waiver of Liability on each visit to the range; members will be required to sign such a waiver once a year (with their New Member Application or annual renewal).

George Laverick will buy two more mailboxes and obtain signs to mount on the mailboxes stating the sign-in and waiver requirements as well as the address of the range. A similar sign will be posted at the gate.

The RSOs will check the logs/waivers, put completed forms in the connex and replace them with blank forms that will be stored in the connex.

High Power Rifle Matches: Only two members have notified the Secretary that they would be interested in participating in high-power matches.

New Business

The LDS Church has requested to reserve the left pistol range for a Saturday morning. The Executive Committee approved the reservation for 8:00AM until Noon on Saturday, September 19, 2015.

Jim Detweiler would like to restart IDPA matches again, but needs two or three people willing to commit to help him on one weekend per month. Please contact Jim at (803)292-1182 if you are willing to help.

Four new members were accepted into the club. The membership is now 345.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30PM.

The next Executive Committee meeting will be at 7:00PM on August 23, 2015 at the ADPS Indoor Range, 240 Dupont Drive, Aiken, SC.

Respectfully submitted,

George Laverick
