May 24, 2015 Executive Committee Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President, Jim Samsel. Officers present were Jim Samsel, Joe Podesta, David Nichols, George Laverick, and Kevin Lilly. One member was present in addition to the officers.

The minutes of the April 26, 2015 Executive Committee meeting were read by George Laverick and were accepted as read.

Treasurer's Report

The Treasurer was not present so no Treasurer's report was available.

Range Report

The tractor tire still needs repaired. Dennis Eidson has volunteered to do the repair.

Armorer's Report

Kevin Lilly has found a contractor in Ohio who will repair the bent Op-Rod (Garand) for approximately $140.

Old Business

Range Survey: The surveyor has been working at the range . He has put out the "set points" and expects to cut the fence line this weekend.

Range Officers: Jim Samsel has been unable to get in touch with Daniel Wood so there is nothing to report at this time.

Plate Rack: Jim Samsel has not been able to contact Dave Eggenberger so there is nothing to report at this time.

Waiver of Liability: George Laverick proposed a change from "member" to "spouse" on one of the signature lines on the waiver and on the New Member Application to reduce confusion. The motion was approved.

M1 Garands: Robert Holm reported that M1 Garands may be shipped to the CMP for a complete tear-down and analysis at a cost of $45. The CMP will provide a report and cost estimate covering any work that needs to be done to make the rifle serviceable.

Fence: Jim Samsel discussed the problems of locating the fence on the back side of the property. The property line runs right along the lip of the gully so putting the fence right on the property line would not be practical. Possibilities include putting it at the bottom of the gully (difficult) along the road (relatively easy but leaves a lot of our land outside the fence), on the neighbour's land with his permission (possible, but may have future legal issues), or buying some land for the fence from the neighbour (good solution if he is willing to sell at a reasonable price).

New Business

Robert Holm expressed interest in the club sponsoring a high power rifle match. A member would be needed who is willing to organize the matches. If you are interested in running such matches, please contact the Secretary.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:45PM.

All members are invited and encouraged to attend one of the New Member Orientation sessions. The next orientation is scheduled on June 20, 2015 at 9:30AM at the left pistol range. Please notify the Secretary if you plan to attend.

Members may also stop by the orientation to have their pictures taken for their ID badge (no appointment needed).

The next Executive Committee meeting will be at 7:00PM on June 28, 2015 at the ADPS Indoor Range, 240 Dupont Drive, Aiken, SC.

Respectfully submitted,

George Laverick
