November 23, 2014 Executive Committee Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President, Jim Samsel. Officers present were Jim Samsel, Joe Podesta, George Laverick, David Nichols, and Kevin Lilly. One member and one guest were present in addition to the officers.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read by George Laverick. The minutes were accepted with corrections.

Treasurer's Report

The Treasurer was not present so no report was given.

Armorers Report

All seven of the club's .22s were issued to the Boy Scouts for their weekend at the range. No change in status of the M1s.

Range Report

Outdoor Range: The Boy Scouts performed a major clean-up of the pistol ranges during their weekend campout. The electrical outlet at the pole is non-functional. It appears that ants have damaged the GFCI and breaker. Chuck Novak will try to repair. Otherwise, no major changes.

Indoor Range: As previously reported, the Indoor Range will NOT be available the week of 12/15 through 12/19 as it is be refurbished. Joe Podesta sold collected .40 cal. Brass to the recyclers and presented the check to the city of Aiken as part of our agreement with the City.

Jim Samsel noted that the club has approximately 200 pounds of .40 cal. Brass collected at the outdoor range when we were renting to Paragon. This brass is available for purchase by members for $.05 per casing. If interested please contact the President or Secretary.

The issue was raised about damage to the range fixtures by improper mounting of targets, etc. It was suggested that several reliable members be appointed as Range Officers to serve at the outdoor range approximately one day per month to observe and correct members who are not following the General Range Rules. Members wishing to serve as Range Officers should contact the Secretary.

New Business

Elections will be held in January for the 2015 officers. We need some new blood on the Executive Committee. Any member interested in becoming a member of the Executive Committee is encouraged to contact the Secretary before the December meeting.

Re-scheduling the December meeting was discussed, but the decision was to NOT re-schedule.

Jim Samsel recommended that the armorer see about replacing sights on two of the .22s so they will all have the same type. Also we need to get some new magazines for the .22s. Five round magazines would be good if we can find them.

Chuck Novak proposed that we identify a better campsite that could be used by the Boy Scouts rather than the parking lot. All of the Officers were in favor. Jim Samsel and Chuck Novak will meet at the range to identify a suitable site.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:37PM.

For some reason, it appears that a lot of members did not receive their Renewal Notices when they were sent out in early November. If you still have not received your notice, the forms may be downloaded at:

(or contact the Secretary).

The next Executive Committee meeting will be held December 28, 2014 at 7:00 PM at the ADPS Indoor Range, 240 Dupont Dr., Aiken.

Respectfully submitted,

George Laverick, Secretary
