October 26, 2014 Executive Committee Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by Vice President, Joe Podesta. Officers present were Joe Podesta, George Laverick,David Nichols, Roger Ward, and Kevin Lilly. Three members were present in addition to the officers.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read by George Laverick. The minutes were accepted as read.

Treasurer's Report

The Treasurer's Report was given by Roger Ward.

Range Report

Based on an email from a member, it appears that someone has been shooting at targets on the ground and is not cleaning up their brass (.22 lr noted). Members are also hanging targets on the support posts for the steel targets. This is not acceptable!

The Indoor Range will be closed the week of 12/15/2014 thru 12/19/2014 for refurbishment of the bullet trap area. Joe Podesta has collected approximately 100 pounds of brass for recycling per our agreement with the City.

Armorers Report

Kevin Lilly reported no changes to the status of the club rifles. George Laverick is holding one of the .22s for Kevin to install new sights and magazines. George noted that he has the rifle with him and will give it to Kevin after the meeting.

Old Business

Waste Collection: Joe Podesta has contacted Tyler's Sanitation. They will supply a 6 cu. yd. container for $93.00/month or a 4 cu. yd. container for $82.00 per month. Either size will be emptied once per week. The Committee voted to contract for a 6 cu. yd. Container on a 6 month trial basis. (Secretary's note: the container has been placed at the back side of the pistol range.)

Fence: We have received a final bill from the Contractor; however, George Laverick has contacted the Contractor regarding the large gaps under the fence. He promised to send someone out to the range to look at the issue and propose a solution.

(Secretary's note: The Contractor has filled in the gaps under the fence using barbed wire. The bill has been paid except that we declined to pay a late charge since the work was not satisfactorily completed until November.)

New Business

Renewal Notices: George Laverick noted that he had edited the dates on the 2014 notices to 2015, and corrected a link to the General Range Rules because of changes to the website. Renewal notice will go out the first week in November.

Renewal notices have been sent out. If you have not received yours, please contact the Secretary.

Shooting Benches: Dennis Eidson presented a proposal for building two new shooting benches like the existing small benches at the rifle range to replace the deteriorated long table on the firing line. The Committee approved an expenditure of up to $250 for materials; Dennis will donate the labor. Dennis will also investigate replacing the rifle stands at the rifle range.

Target Stands: Joe Podesta suggested we look at some type of permanent target stands at the Pistol Ranges. Discussion was held, but no action was taken.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:00PM.

The next Executive Committee meeting will be held November 23, 2014 at 7:00 PM at the ADPS Indoor Range, 240 Dupont Dr., Aiken.

Respectfully submitted,

George Laverick, Secretary
