September 28, 2014 Executive Committee Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President, Jim Samsel. Officers present were Jim Samsel, Joe Podesta, David Nichols, and Kevin Lilly. One member was present in addition to the officers.

Minutes

The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as written and delivered by email.

Treasurer's Report

Since the Treasurer was absent, no Treasurer's report was given.

Range Report

David Nichols reported no changes. He also noted that four bags of trash were removed from the ranges and the grass had been mowed.

Armorers Report

Kevin Lilly reported no changes to the status of the club rifles. George Laverick is holding one of the .22s for Kevin to install new sights and magazines.

Old Business

Fence: The fence appears to be complete by quick visual check by Jim Samsel. A few visual gaps underneath seen on Old Chalk Bed. Follow-up on final details later. Fence company has not contacted anyone in meeting for final walk down.

Gate remains inoperative until the return of George. Use combination on your annual membership card until his return.

New Business

Joe Podesto took the spent brass from the Indoor Range for recycling for the City of Aiken.

Joe Podesta discussed the need for the tables on the ranges to be rebuilt or replaced. Member present requested a chance to change location or arrangement of tables mainly at the rifle range. More information will be gathered for a more in depth discussion later.

General Discussions

Jim Samsel stated that he had been multiple times to the range recently and had the following observations: Repeated, deliberate steel target damage. Ground impacts instead of impacting berms continue to occur. Lack of SAFETY of the shooting has gone rampant-NO consideration for ricochet. May consider for Range Officers to spend time on weekends possibly to educate against blatant rules violations. Also the amount of debris left by members is growing.

Suggestion made to consider notifying Club Officers when finding the Range in disarray (in other words make everyone responsible for range cleaning upon leaving-or take home what you brought to the Range). Another consideration is to place a dumpster at the Range for debris placement.

Joe Podesta will look into cost of having a dumpster placed at the Range.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:55 PM.

The next Executive Committee meeting will be held October 26, 2014 at 7:00 PM at the ADPS Indoor Range, 240 Dupont Dr., Aiken.

Respectfully submitted,

Kevin Lilly, Armorer

George Laverick, Secretary
