June 22, 2014 Executive Committee Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by Vice President, Joe Podesta. Officers present were Joe Podesta, George Laverick, David Nichols, and Kevin Lilly. One member and his spouse were present in addition to the officers.

Minutes

The minutes of the previous meeting were read by the Secretary, and were accepted as read.

Treasurer's Report

Since the Treasurer was absent, no report was given.

Range Report

David Nichols reported that he had repaired the roof over the rifle range firing line, hauled away trash, and replenished the was spray at the range. He also noted that there were two large caliber bullet holes through the roof of the mower storage shed. He will try to get the sprinklers re-programmed in the week following the meeting.

Armorers Report

Kevin Lilly reported no changes to the status of the club rifles. George Laverick is holding one of the .22s for Kevin to install new sights and magazines.

Old Business

Fence: George Laverick reported that he had sent out an RFQ to the two bidders who had previously quoted on the fence based on the Executive committee decisions at the May meeting. Cacee Enterprises responded that their “fence guy” was no longer employed by them, and that they had forwarded to RFQ to another company (who turned out to be the second original bidder) . Boyd Fence met with George Laverick at the range to go over the new requirements, and did submit bids for the clearing ($6622.00) and fence installation ($36,844.29).

George also reported that he had visited the Aiken County offices and verified that the county has indeed abandoned part of Kirkland St., and that the abandoned section reverts to the Club. George recommended that we fence up the center of the abandoned section to prevent any problems with the owners of the “triangle”, and the Executive Committee agreed with this.

The Executive Committee voted to accept both quotes from Boyd Fence, and directed George Laverick to have them proceed with the installation.

General Range Rules: George Laverick reported that he had contracted with Signworks in Aiken to produce new signs so that we could post the updated range rules at each firing line. The cost will be $225.00 plus tax.

Indoor Range: Joe Podesta reported that things have been going smoothly with from two to six shooters each tuesday evening.

Palmetto Concealed Carry: They had scheduled to have their “Get-Together” on June 21 on the left pistol range. As of the meeting we have no report on how it turned out.

New Business

Membership: Kevin Lilly asked if the club was at its membership limit. We are currently at the limit and there are 3 applications waiting for openings.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:25.\PM.

The next Executive Committee meeting will be held July 27, 2014 at 7:00 PM at the ADPS Indoor Range, 240 Dupont Dr., Aiken.

Respectfully,

George Laverick, Secretary
