Old Business

Fence: Three members of the Executive Committee met at the range before this meeting and walked the fence line to determine just what needed to be done. After considerable discussion, the Committee voted to request new quotes for a 72” high commercial grade fence with three strands of barbed wire on top. No clearing on the outside of the fence will be required on Old Chalk Bed Rd. (except for one tree), approximately four feet clearance on the inside of the fence on Old Chalk Bed Rd. On the Kirkland St. side, clearing to be the minimum required to install the fence (otherwise we would lose our visual barrier to the pistol ranges). An RFQ document has been written and submitted to contractors. Any member wishing to review the document should contact the Club Secretary.

George Laverick will contact the County to get an “official” position on the status of the abandoned section of Kirkland St. He will also contact a Club member who is a surveyor for assistance in determining the property lines in that area.

General Range Rules: At the April meeting, changes were proposed to the Range rules regarding large caliber and automatic weapons. Members were asked to comment, and the Secretary read comments received from several members to the Executive Committee. Based on the comments and additional discussion, the Committee voted to change the rules as follows:

FROM:

8.6  No armor piercing, explosive or incendiary ammunition may be used on the club's ranges. No .50 BMG caliber or larger ammunition may be used without special approval by the Executive Committee (This does not prohibit the use of muzzle loading firearms of greater than .50 caliber.).

TO:

8.6  No armor piercing, explosive or incendiary ammunition may be used on the club's ranges. No .50 BMG caliber or higher energy ammunition may be used without special approval by the Executive Committee (This does not prohibit the use of muzzle loading firearms of greater than .50 caliber.).

FROM:

 9. Automatic weapons are permitted on the range provided all other range rules are adhered to.

TO:

9. Automatic firearms are permitted on the range provided all applicable Federal, State and local laws are complied with and all other range rules are adhered to.

All references to “weapons” in the rules to be changed to “firearms”.

New Business

Palmetto Concealed Carry: J.C. Crider spoke on behalf of an organization of CWP holders called Palmetto Concealed Carry. They hold periodic get togethers at various ranges (commonly in the Charleston and Greenville areas). He suggested that they might like to hold one of their meetings at our range (Club members and Public would be invited to attend), and wondered if the Club would be receptive. The Executive Committee members saw no problem in allowing them the use of the left pistol range for such meetings. They should contact the Secretary to set a date and make reservation for the left pistol range.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:57PM.

The next Executive Committee meeting will be held June 22, 2014 at 7:00 PM at the ADPS Indoor Range, 240 Dupont Dr., Aiken.

Respectfully,

George Laverick, Secretary
