November 24, 2013 Executive Committee Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President, Jim Samsel. Officers present were Jim Samsel, Joe Podesta, George Laverick, Kevin Lilly, and David Nichols. Three members were also present.

Minutes of the October 27, 2013 meeting were read by George Laverick, and were accepted as read.

Treasurer's Report

The Treasurer was not present, so no Treasurer's report was given.

Range Report

David Nichols reported that he has not been to the range recently because he had surgery. He plans to go out in the coming week. He believes that there are 1x2 slats in the conex.

Range Committee

Joe Podesta reported that Steve Stamper has not yet provided a written report of his test results, but that verbally he has said that the proposed 300 yard range appears to have a noise level about 20db louder in the direction of the nearest neighbor than the existing 100 yard range. Joe recommended that a Range Committee meeting be held the first or second week of December, and that the concerned neighbor be invited and informed that we will take action to insure that the noise level from the new range does not exceed that from the existing range.

Old Business

Jim Samsel reported that he had drafted a letter to ADPS proposing changes to our agreement with the City. We would limit shooting at the indoor range to one night per week (implemented), collect used brass and sell it with the proceeds going to the City (in process), and increase our contribution toward maintenance of the range from $100 to $600 per year. Jim will present the letter to the City.

Jim Samsel will contact Dave Weikle about the possibility of Dave conducting Range Safety Officer training.

New Business

A discussion of Club support for the JROTC programs was held. A motion was made and passed to donate $250.00 to each of the six high school JROTC programs in Aiken County.

Election of officers will be at the January meeting. More participation by more members is needed. Any member interested in participating in the operation of the club should contact one of the current officers.

The normal date for the December meeting would be the 22nd which is very close to Christmas. A motion was made and passed to move the December meeting to the 15th.

Joe Podesta will attempt to contact the company that took over the security contract from Paragon to see if they would be interested in renting our range.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:41PM.

A good number of our members have renewed for 2014, and we appreciate your promptness. If you have not yet sent in your membership renewal for 2014, now would be a good time. If you need a Renewal Form, contact the club Secretary.

The next Executive Committee meeting will be held at 7:00PM on December 15, 2013 in the ADPS Indoor Range (NOTE DATE CHANGE!).
