August 25, 2013 Executive Committee Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President, Jim Samsel. Officers present were Jim Samsel, Joe Podesta, George Laverick, David Nichols, and Kevin Lilly.

Minutes

Minutes of the June 24, 2013 meeting were read by George Laverick, and were accepted as read.

Treasurer's Report

The Treasurer being absent, no report was given.

Range Report

David Nichols reported that first aid kits have been installed. Supplies at the range appear to be adequate. It appears that the embers are doing a better job of keeping the range clean.

Armorer's Report

There is no change to the status of the club's rifles.

Range Committee

The Committee has met with Mark Jackson, and discussed conducting additional sound level tests on both the existing rifle range and the proposed 300yd range. He is agreeable and wants to participate. Joe has contacted Steve Stamper, an industrial hygenist at SRS. He has professional sound measurement experience and equipment. He has agreed to help us in return for a one-year paid up membership. Tentatively testing will be the week following Labor Day. David Nichols suggested that the 300yd range might be opened only at certain times depending on Mark Jackson's work schedule.

Old Business

George Laverick reported on the gate status and passed around a sample of the report produced by the gate software.

The new target stands have been completed and are in the connex. We need to get a demo target set out to show members how high targets need to be off the ground, and we need to get 1x2 slats at the range.

New Business

Joe Podesta moved that we give Steve Stamper a one-year prepaid membership including keycard fee in return for his help with sound measurements. Seconded and approved.

A discussion was held about possible future problems with bullets ricocheting off the steel targets and passing over the berms. We need to be thinking about some type of baffling above steel targets.

Joe Podesta moved that the meeting be adjourned. Meeting adjourned at 8:00 PM.

The next Executive Committee meeting will be Sunday, September 22, 2013 at 7:00 PM in the ADPS indoor range.

Respectfully,

George Laverick

Secretary

Effective immediately, the Indoor Range will be available on Tuesdays ONLY from 7-9 PM (no Thursdays).
