June 24, 2012 Executive Committee Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by Vice President, Joe Podesta at 7:15 PM. Officers present were Joe Podesta, Roger Ward, George Laverick, and Kevin Lilly. One member and one guest were also present.

Minutes
Minutes of the May 27, 2012 meeting were read by George Laverick, and were accepted as read.

Treasurer's Report
The Treasurer's report was given by Roger Ward. The club is in good financial shape. Members wishing detailed information should contact the Treasurer directly.

Armorer's Report
Kevin Lilly reported that there is one additional .22 rifle available, but that it does need some work before it can be issued to members.

Range Report
No range report was given since the Executive Officer was not present. George Laverick will visit the range on Monday, June 25, to check its condition.

Old Business

We have received tentative approval to resume use of the ADPS indoor range. Several details remain to be worked out such as insurance, Range Officers, etc. Members will be notified when a final agreement is reached and rules for member use of the range will be distributed to members as well as being published on the website.

Joe Podesta presented an overview of the status of the rifle range extension. It appears feasible to develop a combination 200 yd / 300 yd range to the right of the existing range but angling sightly away from the existing range. A Statement of Work has been developed and will be used to obtain quotes for the needed work.

Several of the club's M1 rifles have been turned for inspection and re-evaluation. The Armorer was directed to contact the members who have checked out the remaining rifles that they need to turn them in.

New Business

George Laverick pointed out that the club membership is now over 200, and that several new members had stated that one of their reasons for joining was that our ranges were uncrowded compared to other ranges in the area. He made a motion, seconded by Roger Ward, that the club cap its memberships at 250. The motion was passed unanimously.

Henry Krippner pointed out that we need to be sure there are “GUN RANGE NOISE AREA” signs on both roads fronting the club property. (I checked Monday morning after the meeting. There is one on Chalk Bed Road, but not Kirkland St. There is a sign next to the gate which says “FIREARMS IN USE KEEP OUT”, but the other sign is probably needed as well.)

Kevin Lilly moved that the meeting be adjourned. George Laverick seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 8:20.

The next meeting is scheduled for 7:00 PM, July 22, 2012 at Harbor Chase.

Our Executive Officer has submitted his resignation because of scheduling conflicts with his employment. We are in urgent need of a new Executive Officer. If you are interested in taking on the job, please contact one of the officers.

Respectfully,

George Laverick
Secretary
