February 26, 2012 Executive Committee Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President, Jim Samsel at 7:07 PM. Officers present were Jim Samsel, Joe Podesta, George Laverick, Roger Ward, and Kevin Lilly. Several members and guests were also present.

Minutes

Minutes of the December 18, 2011 meeting were read by George Laverick, and were accepted as read with one correction, the addition of Hank Dingfelder to the membership of the Rifle Range Extension Committee (Hank had inadvertently been omitted).

.Treasurer's Report

Roger Ward reported the current balance in the club's accounts. As of the meeting, we have 170 members in good standing.

Range Report

The range report was not given due to the absence of the Executive Officer.

Armorer's Report

The club currently has two M1's available for loan to members. There are six .22s available, however, two need parts to be usable.

Old Business

George Laverick reported on his attempts to get the South Carolina Secretary of State to correct the name/location of the club's “Registered Agent”. Communication with the Secretary of State has been back and forth four times. Each time, the Secretary of State has asked for one additional piece of information. The latest iteration is currently in the mail on its way to Columbia.

Roger Ward installed several new steel targets on both the rifle range and the right pistol range. Unfortunately, someone has already shot a hole in one of the new lollipop targets on the rifle range with a large caliber penetrator (the targets are armor plate). If you were at the range between 3:00 PM Saturday, February 25th and 3:00 PM Sunday, February 26th, and observed someone shooting a large bore rifle on the rifle range, please contact one of the officers. This kind of activity cannot be tolerated. While most members are very good about observing the rules, one or a few members violating the rules creates problems for us all.

 New Business

Kevin Lilly asked if it would be okay to put posters up at the range advertising the Friends of the NRA Banquet. Jim Samsel said there was no objection. The banquet will be at the Aiken Shrine Club on April 19, 2012. Tickets are $30 or two for $50. Tickets can be purchased at The Gun Rack in Aiken or from Kevin Lilly.

Terry Overstreet asked about posting the range physical address at the entrance to the range. Terry will provide a sketch and estimate of the cost for a sign to the Executive Committee.

One new member was approved by the Executive Committee.

The next Executive Committee meeting will be March 25, 2012, 7:00 PM, at Ryan's Steakhouse in Aiken.

Joe Podesta moved that the meeting be adjourned; Kevin Lilly seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 PM.

George Laverick

Secretary
